The selected village for this project is Korlapadu Sangam in Venkatachalam Mandal, Nellore District. The population of this village belongs to the S.T., S.C. and B.C. communities. The target group selected for this project belongs to (tribal / Yerukala caste).

The economic situation of the target group is simply miserable. They belong to a disadvantaged community and live in the outskirts in unhygienic surroundings. They are not only poor but also backward socially, culturally and politically. 10 direct beneficiaries of this project are the Tribal women selected on from each family. The total population of the 10 families is about 60. The traditional occupation of this tribal community is to make a variety of products with bamboo sticks and date tree leaves and sticks. The women prepare different sizes of baskets. Fans and nets etc. and sell them to the consumers. But to buy date tree sticks they have to borrow money only form money lenders at a high rate of interest ranging from 5% to 10% per month. They have no other source except to depend on money lenders.

Our Organization is working in 20 villages at present. In every village we have formed village committees. The beneficiaries have already been elected by the village committee. Soon after approval of the project the office bearers of the organization will conduct a meeting of all the beneficiaries and discuss with them about the approved items of the budget and plan for purchase of the Date trees sticks with the cooperation of the Forest Department.
